Driving Layne Review

“They say, the truth will set you free. My truth is killing me.”

Amber is starting over in a new state where no one knows her.  New roommate, new college and most importantly new freedoms.

Away from home for the first time, Amber isn’t above using a guy for one night and leaving it at that. She doesn’t want to get tied down with one person. She just wants to experience the college life and take advantage of being on her own. So, when Amber’s new BFF Renee invites her to an underground drag racing competition, Amber sets her sights on driver/playboy Layne… and their attraction is mutual.

With his good looks and boyish charm, Layne is popular with the ladies on campus, but Amber thinks one night with him is all she needs to get him out of her system. Little does Amber know that Layne sees things differently, and after their hookup he wants something more. Will Amber open up and let Layne in, or will she run away?

Will the unspoken truth be too much for either of them to handle?

Going into this book I figured it was your typical good girl likes bad boy story. You know that kind, girl refuses to be with said bad boy because he’s a bad boy and she knows he will break her heart. Wrong!!! It was sooooooo much more and I absolutely loved it!

Amber refuses to let anyone close because of a secret that she is carrying around. As hard as she tries to keep people away, she fails. I loved the relationship she had with her roommate Renee. After I found out Amber’s secret, Im so glad that she had a friend like Renee. They quickly become like sisters.

Renee tried to warn Amber about Layne, but being stubborn like she is, Amber didn’t listen. An instant attraction was formed and poor girl should have known her heart was a goner. Watching Layne and Amber form a friendship through the book was so cute. Something bad happens in the story and I think it really solidified their bond.

I was completely hooked to this book. I absolutely devoured it. My Kindle barely left my hands since I started the first page. I completely fell in love with Layne. He really surprised me through out the entire book. Of course I wanted to slap Amber a few times because I was so anxious to know her secret and for her to finally open up to Layne. By the end, I understood why she was the way she was. The end was heartbreaking but yet so darn sweet! It was amazing! You really need to add this book to your TBR list and go one-click now! I promise you will love the story. Now I cant promise you that you wont ugly cry like I did, but I swear you will love the story. I cant wait to read the next book in the series!

And can she decide before the choice is made for her?

THE DESCENDANT A Vampire Tale of Biblical Proportions

Im not a huge fan of paranormal reads so when I choose one to read…I’m very picky. What really won me over was Kelley saying that she wanted a certain kind of vampire story and couldn’t find it, so she decided to write her own. She decided to write a story that included how the vampire came about. Yup, I was intrigued. I had to know.
I absolutely loved her version. She made it so interesting. I was hooked on the storyline and really liked how things were described. The detail was amazing and didn’t slow down the pace of the story at all. I could clearly picture how the story was unfolding and didn’t have to wonder what was going on. I did, however, keeping wondering what was going to happen next. Not once was I able to guess what was going to happen. Kelley had me surprised and shocked and completely blown away with all of the twists and turns. I was amazed and I loved not being able to figure out what was around the corner. It really kept me turning the pages and I even noticed myself reading faster.
I really liked Allison. I felt so sorry for her in the beginning of the book. I wanted so badly to help her. I really liked the connection that Allison and Matt shared. So sweet. I can’t pin point it, but I really really loved Matt and want more of him. Vincent…I had a like/dislike relationship with him. There just was something that I didn’t trust about him. At first, I liked him. He came off as the mysterious bad boy type. I wanted to get to know him more. Even as dreamy as he was, he never really grew on me. Probably because I liked Matt so much. There are at least 2 more books to come, so maybe he will grow on me. It’s happened before, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened again.
If you have ever been interested in vampires, a little romance, and of course action packed storylines…I highly recommend this series.

5 STARS!!!!

I knew I wasn’t dying. At least that was what the other doctors had said. But what I didn’t know, and neither did any of those other doctors, was the cause of my symptoms. In fact, those supposed specialists had all declared me to be perfectly healthy and viewed my symptoms with skepticism. But I knew they were mistaken; there was something wrong with me.’

The Search (Book 2 in The Descendant Vampire Series)

Allison Carmichael is thirsty for blood and hungry for answers.

Lured away from her illicit extracurricular activities by news about her kidnapped husband, Allison rejoins her adopted family that’s promised to help her find him. Allison’s search is detoured, however, by sinister vampire politics, the seeming good will of her fanged family, and the return of her nemesis. Circumstances unfold that shatter the foundation of her world.

In order to successfully play the game she has been thrust into, Allison must battle loss and betrayal and accept unexpected love.

THE SEARCH is on for answers, but when answers are found, will they be what Allison was looking for?

I thought I was hooked with book 1, I think its safe to say this book made it an addiction. The Search picks up where The Descendant leaves off. The Search has so much more action and fast paced drama. Edge of your seat suspenseful drama. Its AMAZING!!!! Take a look at the excerpt below. That has to be one of the most awesome ‘What the……’ moments of the book. Totally sneaks up on you and then BAM! It so wasn’t an answer I thought was coming. And its just the very beginning. I cant say much more without giving anything away. This series is brilliant! You have to one-click asap! Im ‘patiently’ waiting on the edge of my seat for book 3. Oh I can just imagine the things that could happen there!

“I’ve already told you once and I’m going to tell you again – no. Now please get off the property before I call the police.”

Gabriela tried closing the door again but my foot didn’t budge. I stared directly into her eyes. “You will let me into this house,” I commanded, but Gabriela’s eyes didn’t react to my persuasion. I was confused as to what was going on; this had worked on every human I had tried it on. “You will let me in this house.”

I tilted my head in disbelief and Gabriela mockingly tilted her head back at me. I removed my foot from the doorway but had no intention of letting her shut me out. I was going to let her think for the slightest of moments that she had won this argument. I turned to walk away when I heard, “Ali-gator.”

I turned around and as Gabriela was shutting the door asked, “What did you just say?”

Gabriela rattled off something in Spanish before saying, “I didn’t say anything.”

“Yes you did. You whispered ‘Ali-gator.’”

“Um, no I didn’t.” “My husband used to call me that.”

“Okay lady, you’re losing your mind.” She twirled her finger next to her temple as she whistled cuckoo.

If I could have breathed fire I would have in that moment. I charged Gabriela but before I could reach her I felt like I had hit a brick wall. I placed my hands out in front of me but they couldn’t cross the threshold. Gabriela’s smirk irritated me.

“I told you I wouldn’t let you enter,” she taunted and slammed the door.

True North Review

Title: True North: Finding Home

Series: True North Book #1

Author: Allie Juliette Mousseau

Genre: New Adult Romance (18+ – Contains explicit sex)

Release Date: March 17, 2014

Summary from Goodreads“When you’re lost… True North”
The North brothers were hell on wheels-adrenaline-junky bad boys. You’d think they had a death wish – every one of them – but they didn’t really, they just got off on the thrill of pushing every limit, that gravity or any other force told them they couldn’t conquer. What they weren’t prepared for were the women that would steal their hearts…
Livie Morrisey is dreading seeing Jake after his heroic homecoming from Afghanistan. She’s been in love with Jake North since she was a little girl, but he’s three-and-a-half years older than her and her big brother’s best friend. She was always nothing but the off-limits little sister – until the night before Jake left for the Army, when he’d given her her first kiss. They’d kept in touch for a year, but once Jake was deployed to Afghanistan, he’d cut off contact suddenly and she’d never heard from him again.

For the past three years Livie has kept herself distracted with homework and her university studies, but now Jake’s going to be up close and personal. And Livie can’t decide if tonight’s finally the night to prove to Jake she’s all grown up or the night she should let him go forever.

Have you ever read a book where it made so many memories and emotions come flooding back and you just have to put your Kindle down? This is probably the first book that has caused that for me. Ive dealt with some of the situations in this book so it hit kind of hard. The way that Allie wrote this amazing story brought out so many emotions! OMG!!!! Talk about a book hangover! Now, I have connected with stories and they have made me ugly cry. Like break down and sob like a baby, and these turn out to be my favorite books. But wow!!!! Allie’s ability  to bring the characters to life and connect was simply beautiful! This woman had me dreaming and feeling the emotions of the story. I woke up, right back in the past, living those emotions again. Needless to say, coffee and grabbing my Kindle became the first thing I did that morning. I just had to have more Jake. Ive never had a book hangover before I even finish the book! Good job, Allie! The story completely grabbed me.

This story sheds light on some really important real life happenings. PTSD is no joke. Its real. I absolutely loved how the details really show the seriousness of it. Doesn’t sugar coat at all. Some of you know what I mean. We are heartbroken while our friends/family are at war, we are so ecstatic when they come home, and for some…we are heartbroken again when we see that that certain spark is gone from our loved ones eyes. We can see that they are someone different now. You would do anything to bring that person back. I really loved how this story showed that and that love really can help a person out of that darkness.

I loved all of the characters. I’ve pretty much been in Livie’s shoes so I really connected with her. I loved how strong that chick was. She knows what she wants and she does not give up. My heart went out to Jake. I so badly wanted to hug him and promise him that everything would be okay and that there are people who understand him and what he’s going through. He’s a strong man and so darn sweet!!! When he asks Livie to pretend that he never left…oh my! Total swoon moment. You could totally feel his pain and plea.  You just have to read the book to understand the weight of that statement. Trust me; this is a book that is one-click material. Then one-click for a friend. Amazing read and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. You are amazing Allie! Don’t ever stop using your out of this world talent!

Fighting for someone’s heart is more challenging than fighting for a title.

As predicted, I loved this book so much! I absolutely adore this series. Second Chance type books are my favorite. L.P. Dover is excellent at having so much sweetness, hotness, and drama all  rolled into a nice package.  We are talking about major drama, but I absolutely loved how the drama was handled and dealt with. Ah! It is so hard not to dive right in and spill the beans about what was sooooo great about this book. However, I won’t. I will just touch the tip of the ice berg and leave the rest for you to find out on your own.

I loved how the book had so much drama. It really keeps you on your toes. It was a roller coaster of emotions. So many ups and downs, it was awesome. If you know me then you would know that the more a book makes me feel emotion, the more I LOVE the book. Especially if it makes me cry. Those end up being my favorite books. Surprisingly, Shelby didn’t have me shedding tears, it was Matt. Having his point of view, on a certain subject, really got me crying. I felt so bad for him. Yet, it was so hot at the same time because it was a sensitive side of him.

I highly recommend this series to everyone. This is a series that you just have to go one-click and trust all of the amazing 5 star reviews. Amazing series!

10 Favorite Quotes from Fighting For Love

  1. “All I wanted was to hate you, but now that you’re right here in front of me I just hate myself because I still can’t. No matter how hard I tried, I could never get you out of my mind.”
  2. I wanted him again, but then I knew I shouldn’t. I had to remember that so many other women had tasted his lips and felt his body between their legs while my heart ached. Although, it wasn’t a full day ago that I was in the arms of another man; kissing him, and vowing to myself that I was going to try and get over my past. It was a vow I knew I couldn’t keep.
  3. “Okay, so I’ve made mistakes, but so have you,” he pointed out. “I’m pretty sure you didn’t stay innocent over the years, either. Right now I’d say we’re both fifty shades of fucked up. The question is … what are we going to do about it?”
  4. With his hands caressing my back, his breath tickled my skin when he murmured in my ear, “You will be mine tonight, angel. Your body, your lips … all mine.” “For how long?” I whispered back, shivering from his touch. “One night? Two?” I had to know what he wanted. He nipped my earlobe with his teeth and a deep rumble sounded in his chest. “I want you always, but I’ll settle for as long as you want to give me. Whether that be one night, two, or fifty years. It’s all up to you.”
  5. “Let me loose in a den of wolves, huh? Little does Ryan know I’m not a little lamb,” she thundered. “I’m also not a model. What if I suck?” “You’ve never sucked at anything, Shelby. Just don’t get too comfortable with the guys, okay? I’m sure once we leave here word will spread they got to put their hands on what’s mine without getting their heads smashed in.” “And who says I’m yours? I don’t think I gave you an answer yet,” she teased. “However, you did ask me to come here with you, so if I get excited being touched by your fellow fighters then it’s all your fault. I’m starting to think I might enjoy it.”
  6. She loved to tease me; she always had, but I fucking loved it. Her torture would come soon, and I was going to make sure she begged before I gave her what she wanted.
  7. Sliding the box of strawberries to my side, I grabbed one of the dark chocolate ones and rubbed it across her swollen lips. “Sweetheart, I don’t think this is torture, but I am getting ready to show you what torture is.”
  8. “It just feels like every step forward we take there’s always something that tries to hold us back.” “And that’s why we’ll keep pushing,” he murmured low. “Nothing is going to hold us back because I’m not going to let it. I’ll fight for what’s mine, and you, my angel, are mine.”
  9. “I want to be the only man to have the privilege of touching you like this, of making love to you. Because this right here,” he murmured, placing his other hand over my heart, “is where I want to be. It’s where I’ve always wanted to be … it’s where I belong.”
  10. We only had to go down two more doors before he pressed me up against the wall and thrust his tongue in between my lips. Reaching between my legs to the waist of his jeans, I undid them and he let them fall to the floor. If only mine were gone I’d get him to take me against the wall and fuck me hard. I didn’t want it gentle tonight, I wanted it hard and fast.

Sec4rets Review

I waited to read this book for several months. I was so excited when it was ready for review. It was well worth the wait. Im a sucker for angst and mystery. I was not let down with this book. I could totally feel the emotions of the characters. I loved seeing how the characters dealt with their issues and all of the drama. I can totally see this book as being a teen TV series.

I loved the pace of the story. Not once did I feel it was being rushed or too slow. Everything flowed perfectly.  The way the details are described were good. I didn’t feel that I had to guess at anything. I could clearly picture what was happening in the story. It kept me reading and needing to know what was going to happen next.

For anyone that enjoys mystery, drama, and teen angst, I highly recommend this book. I cant wait to read more!
